Process paragraph: Explanation

In class, we talked about Process paragraphs. We made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and we described order of the pictures about traveling. The Peanut butter and jelly paragraph would be considered a "how to" process paragraph. The other process paragraph is an "explanation". This tells the reader how a particular event occurred or how something works.

Below I have given you a list of transitions I would like you to include in your process paragraph. You do not have to use them all.

(initially, until, afterward, before, when, as soon as, during, meanwhile, finally)

I would like for you to write an explanation paragraph for this assignment. Whatever topic or theme, however, it has to tell how an event occurred or how something works.

Repost...Liyba

After reading the blogs that were comlpleted in the time asked, I have noticed that everyone needs to do a rewrite. An informative paragraph is not just facts! You must have a Topic sentence and conclusion. In the body, you must include the facts you uncover but don't just copy them either. Yes, you can quote but not the whole paragraph. This is due on Wednesday.

Libya: What do you know?

Sunday began an military offensive in Libya. The U.S. and many allied nations have joined together to put an end to the country's leader rule. There are many questions out there to be asked. My questions to you is what do you know about Libya? I want a paragraph. NOT IN FIRST PERSON! That means no "I, me or my". This is an informative paragraph about Libya not an opinion paragraph. If you use a website or quote, make sure that you do it appropriately!! This is due next class.

Suggestions for writing paragraphs online

There are few things I would like to suggest to everyone that has or will post on this blog.

1. Make sure you write paragraphs in Microsoft Word first before putting it on the blog. Copy and paste your work. This will cut down on Spelling and Capitalization errors that I have seen so far.

2. Length. For many (not all) the posts have been WAY TOO SHORT! This means more. Otherwise I will begin discounting points for this reason.

3. Last bit not least: Being on-time with your assignments. DO NOT put them off. It will hurt you later. Consider these blogs like homework assignments that you don't physically hand in, but will get graded on your progress throughout the semester.
