Sunday began an military offensive in Libya. The U.S. and many allied nations have joined together to put an end to the country's leader rule. There are many questions out there to be asked. My questions to you is what do you know about Libya? I want a paragraph. NOT IN FIRST PERSON! That means no "I, me or my". This is an informative paragraph about Libya not an opinion paragraph. If you use a website or quote, make sure that you do it appropriately!! This is due next class.

Ordering system to stop the offensive against rebel positions. According to the leader Gaddafi indicates that Puebloans Libiana are willing to die for him. I understand that this will be a slaughter if you do not reach an agreement the United States, France, Great Britain. Remember that innocent lives are the best thing is to bring peace. There are different ways people understand violence is not the best option.

ReplyDeleteLibya, an oil-rich nation and is the fourth largest country in Africa. Gained independence in 1951 as the Kingdom. The name Libya was resuscitated in 1903 by the Italian geographer Federico Minutilli who in 1903 used it as first in today's meaning in his work "Bibliografia della Libia". As a result of the 2011 Libyan uprising, there are currently two entities claiming to be the official government of Libya, which have caused many problems . People in Libya want their Governor out because of all the problems he has caused by killing people. The United States is now involved to try and help the people of Libya, which is sadly causing another war.

Libya is culturally similar to its neighboring Maghrebian states. Libyans consider themselves very much a part of a wider Arab community. The Libyan state tends to strengthen this feeling by considering Arabic as the only official language, and forbidding the teaching and even the use of the Berber language. Libyan Arabs have a heritage in the traditions of the nomadic Bedouin and associate themselves with a particular Bedouin tribe.

Libya is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Libya gained independence in 1951 as the United Libyan Kingdom. Between 13 and 16 January, upset at delays in the building of housing units and over political corruption, protesters in Darnah, Benghazi, Bani Walid and other cities broke into and occupied housing that the government was building. The protests and confrontations began in earnest on 15 February 2011. On the evening of 15 February, between 500 and 600 protesters chanted slogans in front of the police headquarters in Benghazi. The protest was broken up violently by police, resulting in 38 injuries. On 21 February, The New York Times reported that Gaddafi had tried to impose a blackout on information from the country. Several residents reported that cellphone service was down, and even landline phone service was sporadic. The 26 March incident with Iman al-Obeidi, a Libyan woman who had been forcibly silenced and detained after she attempted to tell the international media of her alleged gang-rape by Gaddafi's troops, was seen by the media as representative of the trend.
In 630 BC, the Ancient Greeks colonized Eastern Libya and founded the city of Cyrene.[22] Within 200 years, four more important Greek cities were established in the area that became known as Cyrenaica: Barce (later Al Marj); Euhesperides (later Berenice, present-day Benghazi); Taucheira (later Arsinoe, present-day Tukrah); and Apollonia (later Susah), the port of Cyrene. Together with Cyrene, they were known as the Pentapolis (Five Cities). Cyrene became one of the greatest intellectual and artistic centers of the Greek world, and was famous for its medical school, learned academies, and architecture. The Greeks of the Pentapolis resisted encroachments by the Egyptians from the East, as well as by the Carthaginians from the West, but in 525 BC the Persian army of Cambyses II overran Cyrenaica, which for the next two centuries remained under Persian or Egyptian rule. Alexander the Great was greeted by the Greeks when he entered Cyrenaica in 331 BC, and Eastern Libya again fell under the control of the Greeks, this time as part of the Ptolemaic Kingdom. Later, a federation of the Pentapolis was formed that was customarily ruled by a king drawn from the Ptolemaic royal house.

Libya, an oil-rich nation in North Africa, has been under the firm, if sometimes erratic, leadership of Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi since he seized power in 1969. This is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa. Then Libya’s people want their Governor out because of all the problems he has caused by killing people. Now some countries are involved to try and help the people of Libya, because could cause another war.

The U.S. strongly belives that Lybia has chemical weapons of mass destruction (WMD), but is not ready nor has had enough testing to be able to use them. Lybias president, President Gaddafi has put his nation in a very difficult situation over the past years, in an intent to protect the peoples country, he provided weapons to the population so that they can defend their own lives. Due to this, The United States of America and and other allies have made it their mission to bring down this president.

Libya is an aral country in the North of Africa. For decades it has been rule by Gaddafi. United States has been supportive to this country and his president. But Libya is not a free country. What it is meant is that the ruling is not democracy. It is somehow a tirany.
ReplyDeleteIt´s people got tired of not having freedom. They asked their president for more freedom, but it was not granted. So the people went in revolt. Since Gaddafi fire with bullets the peaceful manifestations, NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty Organization) led by United State, decided to attack the Libyan government. Up to now the rebels are still fighting.

The Italians supplanted the Ottoman Turks in the area around Tripoli in 1911 and did not relinquish their hold until 1943 when defeated in World War II. Libya then passed to UN administration and achieved independence in 1951. Following a 1969 military coup, Col. Muammar Abu Minyar al-QADHAFI began to espouse his own political system, the Third Universal Theory. The system is a combination of socialism and Islam derived in part from tribal practices and is supposed to be implemented by the Libyan people themselves in a unique form of "direct democracy." QADHAFI has always seen himself as a revolutionary and visionary leader. He used oil funds during the 1970s and 1980s to promote his ideology outside Libya, supporting subversives and terrorists abroad to hasten the end of Marxism and capitalism. In addition, beginning in 1973, he engaged in military operations in northern Chad's Aozou Strip - to gain access to minerals and to use as a base of influence in Chadian politics - but was forced to retreat in 1987

What’s really going on in Libya? I don’t really know much about the country of Libya but I heard that there is a war going on over in Libya. Lots of people also say that the government doesn’t care much and that kids have been suffering from malnutrition and anemia plus lots of people are getting kill. The population of Libya have been tier of the same government that has been in power as the ruler of Libya seams 1969 and the country has rebel against him (Gaddafi), which it has cause a civil war . One thing I know and I am shore of even if I don’t have a full vision of what’s going on in Libya, is that these things are suppose to happing because the word of God is true and concrete: Like Jesus said that the heavens and the earth will pass but His word will never pass and He also prophesy that they will be war and pestilence and this will only be beginning of sorrows. Now a lots of people have hear about this words that are sing of the end of the world but my question is, do people really worry? And if they do where do they go? Can they stop and try to Jesus? If we try Jesus we will never regret it.
